Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, delivers the most productive and most secure Microsoft 365 experience—with the lowest total cost of ownership for deployment and management. However, for customers who can’t move all their devices to the cloud just yet due to inability to take regular updates, or have fully disconnected and secure environments, Office LTSC will be available. Office LTSC will be a one-time release version of Microsoft 365 apps, as with previous perpetual releases.

A persistent internet connection is not required; Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise runs locally on your PC. Internet access is required to install and activate Microsoft 365, but IT administrators in traditional private cloud environments can deploy Microsoft 365 and Microsoft 365 updates using software distribution tools and infrastructure.
Some features like Analyze Data in Excel and Researcher in Word require an internet connection. Regularly connecting to the internet ensures that you can receive automatic updates and that you’re using the latest versions of your Microsoft 365 apps. Internet access is also required to manage your Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise account, for example to change payment options or to access documents stored on OneDrive.

Yes, you can configure Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise to apply only the software updates you have tested and validated. You can manage software updates completely in-house either by using familiar software distribution tools or by directing Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise to check for updates at your file shares or URLs.
You can share Microsoft 365 Family with 5 other people in your household, for a total of 6 users. Microsoft 365 Personal can be used by one person.
Annual commitment refers to the length of time the service agreement lasts. When you purchase Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, it’s an annual commitment. You can choose to pay month to month or pay the entire amount for the year at the time you sign up.
You can cancel your subscription at any time. For annual commitment subscriptions, such as Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, there is a penalty for canceling before the end of your contract. Read the complete Microsoft Online Subscription Agreement.
Your data is yours. If you decide to cancel your Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise subscription, you can download your data—for example, your email and documents on team sites—and save it to another location. You should save your data before you cancel. After you cancel your subscription, data associated with your Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise account will be available to your administrator(s) in a limited-function account for 90 days.
